today, for me

God made spring
for me
and all of his children, really
but today
just for me.

The warm sun fills me
with hope
hope that was covered by the cold
of winter, covered
by snow.

The birds talk about me
and my newfound hope
twittering back
and forth
andbackandforth
lifting me upwards
with their wings.

The snowcapped mountains
remind me of the season
now conquered by warmth
ice melted
sent back up
to the white-tipped tops
of the mountains.

How appropriate
is this season
for the raising of
the Son of God
the shouts of hallelujah
seem more fitting
when sung in spring.

Spring brings with it
raising
.of sun
..of spirit
...of hope
......of me.

God made spring
for me
today, just for me.

Natalie,
I hope you don't mind that I'm making a comment. I just wanted to let you know that I have been reading your blog & have really enjoyed your writing. I loved your poems 'Denial' and 'today, for me.'
I hope things are going well for you.

(and about the whole "tagged" thing - you can blame that on my family - they kind of went "tag" crazy.)

nanny, i love this! it's such an awsome (the full of awe kind) description of spring - like a quiet acknowledgement or realization....i like the part abotu the birds, that's my favorite.
